Jenny J. Urquhart - Owner, JJ Analytics

Jenny’s career in Law Enforcement began over 30 ago as a sworn Customs Inspector with Canada Customs where she served as both an officer and analyst for CBSA working on the front lines then with the Intelligence Unit to combat illegal immigration and smuggling. Moving to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in 2001, she worked the full spectrum of criminal intelligence cases, including local gangs, major crimes, Transnational Criminal Organizations and Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs. The bulk of her RCMP career was spent gaining expertise in international cross-border smuggling of all types. Near the end of her time with the RCMP, Jenny was hand selected to serve as the strategic briefer for the RCMP Deputy Commissioner West. During this assignment she perfected the art of strategic intelligence briefing.

Working with highly talented teams and independently, Jenny has taught overseas in Albania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Peru, Panama, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and Malaysia where she was responsible for developing and delivering training and writing training manuals about such topics as structured analytical techniques, tactical, operational, and strategic analysis, ethics, professionalism, intelligence led policing, risk and threat analysis, and the intelligence cycle. She has also developed and delivered a number of workshops geared towards managers of Intelligence units and focussing on tasking, managing and building their team to perform at a high level.

As the Principal of JJ Analytics, Jenny has provided consulting services to several clients, offering a professional evaluation of specific legal cases and process assessment. She has provided recommendations and created intelligence products which clarified complex webs of information for satisfied clients.

Jenny is currently is a sessional professor at the Justice Institute of BC where she teaches a variety of courses concerning intelligence analysis, research methodology, competitive analysis, and Structured Analytical Techniques at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

Jenny also serves on the Board Of Directors for MSAB Canada, the global leader in forensic technology for mobile device examination.

Always committed to expanding the influence of her profession, Jenny has been a contributing member of multiple professional organizations and is the Immediate Past President of the International Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts (IALEIA), the largest professional organization in the world representing law enforcement analysts and currently serves on the Board as their Communications Director.
